Good to know

Frequently asked questions about Oca Valhalla.

The key information for planning, arrival and your stay.

How do you reach Oca Valhalla?

Travel is by boat from Manaus across the Rio Negro. In the Oca Prime package, pickup at the airport or at Marina do Davi and the return trip there are included. For Oca Signature and Oca Experience, boat and airport transfers are not included; on request they can be organised for an additional fee and agreed personally before your stay.

Is the oca private accommodation?

Yes. A booking of the oca is exclusive to the guests who book it – it is never given to other guests at the same time. Within your own group you do share the open sleeping area; there are no separate rooms for individuals or couples.

How many guests can stay?

The oca accommodates up to eight guests. The exact occupancy is confirmed before booking.

Are Umussy and Christian personally on site?

Yes. Umussy and Christian generally live on site, in the immediate neighbourhood of Oca Valhalla. You can always drop by, say hello and ask questions about Oca Valhalla, tours and anything else. How closely they accompany your stay depends on the package:
Oca Experience: They organise activities and partially accompany them.
Oca Signature: They organise activities and partially accompany them. They organise the regional food and help prepare the dishes to suit the day's activities.
Oca Prime: They organise activities and partially accompany them. They organise the regional food and help prepare the dishes to suit the day's activities. They also guide you to the best spots on the beaches and help put up the hammocks for a good time.
Please note: the actual extent of their presence cannot be guaranteed, as unplanned events, weather conditions, emergencies or similar circumstances beyond our control may occur.

Are electricity, internet and sanitary facilities available?

Electricity is available 24/7 from a battery storage system that bridges an average of 30 hours if the public grid goes down. The supply is 230 volts at 60 Hz and the sockets follow the Brazilian standard (type N). Modern sanitary facilities and an outdoor kitchen with a gas stove are available; the internet runs on Starlink and is powered continuously by the batteries as well.

Are meals, transfer and excursions included?

It depends on the package. Oca Prime includes all meals in regional premium quality, soft drinks and mineral water, and pickup at the airport or Marina do Davi plus the return trip there. Oca Signature includes all meals in regional standard quality plus soft drinks and mineral water, but no boat or airport transfers. Oca Experience includes neither meals nor soft drinks (they can be bought on site) nor transfers. Host-guided tours and local, seasonal adventures are part of every package.

Can guests swim in the Rio Negro?

Swimming may be possible depending on water level and local conditions. Always follow current guidance from the local team.

Which animals might be observed?

The animals that appear depend on the season, weather and the natural rhythm of the Amazon. That is what makes each sighting special.

What should guests bring?

Light, quick-drying clothing, secure water or trekking shoes, sun protection, personal medication, a headlamp and waterproof protection for electronics. More on our equipment page.

How does the stay enquiry work?

Send your dates, number of guests and interests through the secure form. After a personal availability check, you will receive an email response. The stay only becomes binding once it is expressly confirmed.
